yippee!
A new chapter begins, and not a moment too soon.

As of March 8th I will be working for The Arthritis Foundation, a national non-profit organization with a chapter in Pittsburgh that serves all of Western PA. My position is that of Community Development Specialist and I will be responsible for developing programs through volunteer support and grant funding in four neighboring, underserved counties. I will also be doing a lot of development/fundraising work through events such as gala dinners, golf outings and walks where people sign up and get sponsors.

This is very exciting. The woman who is the director of our staff of five is an expert fundraiser and a very passionate and driven person. She is light hearted as well and seems like she will be a fantastic mentor. The job is located in this gorgeous old building across the river from downtown in an upscale shopping/dining area called Station Square. My building, The Grand Concourse, is at one end and Kevin's building, The Sheraton, is at the other. So we can, like, meet for lunch or whatever.

I have already made friends with the security/doorman, Lou, and the rest of the foundation staff is great. All young (between 25 and 35) and friendly...no major personality issues stuck out on first impressions. Actually all three other staff people just seem like really smart, dedicated people who can joke around together as well as turn out good work.

So, that's my big news. It's taken a while for me to get here but this opportunity is just what I've been looking for and hoping for. Aaaand....heading into "work" to give my current boss the news. Ugh.
