We had a really great weekend. This is my first wine-free birthday in 10 years, but it was still lovely. We checked out the new casino - it was fine...like the other 2 or 3 casinos I've been in. We each lost a little bit of money but we had fun. My favorite slot machines were the ones with a Happy Days theme.

We had an excellent dinner that involved the greatest ceasar salad I've ever had in my life. It was also at this beautiful castle-styled restaurant where they have gardens and greenhouses with their own herbs and veggies growing....it was divine. The hotel we stayed in was extra nice. King sized bed, huge bathroom. We had a really nice breakfast in the morning, too, and then we went to Lowe's and bought a bunch of stuff for gardening.

It was a little weird to think this is the last time in a while we'll travel on our own...we are planning an August vacation with the fam which will, obviously, include the baby. But a spontaneous, kid-free trip...it will probably be a while before that happens again. I am ready to expand our family...as ready as I can be...but I get weirded out when I realize little things here and there that will be different. Like, Kevin and I spend a LOT of time alone together in the car, driving here and there - we listen to music and laugh a lot and talk about stuff we don't get other chances to talk about. In two months, the times that we are alone in the car together will be only occasional - pretty much only when we hand the kiddo off to grandma. Not like you can't listen to music and talk while a baby is in the car - it will just be different. And, instead of discussing the viability of the Libertarian party, we'll probably be talking about things like the consistency and quantity of our baby's most recent bowel movement. (It's great to have something to look forward to.)
