9:46 a.m. - 2007-10-29 Kevin had cleaned the carpets while we were out and had a fit later upon the discovery that we, like a pair or 5 year olds had gotten a crapload of glitter all over the house and possibly the cat. We had spent the early afternoon trying to coordinate our transportation and settled on Kevin dropping us off on the south side on his way to the hockey game with his "little" from BBBS, Brandon. Imagine the sight - Haley and i crammed in the backseat, wings sticking out at every angle, crazy make-up and short skirts - actually Haley was in shorts...later in the evening, she was sitting on a bar stool with her foot up on another bar stool and I go "Arghgh! Oh, you have shorts on - I thought you were flashing angel crotch to the world!" Anyway i think Brandon thinks we are weirdos. So we got dropped off around 6 because that is when the Hockey game was starting and let me tell you - at 6pm only old people an families are out. They are eating dinner and NOT wearing costumes. Many snickers at us. Fortunately around 8pm we were joined by a very convincing Captain Jack Sparrow and a very weird Tony the Tiger whose costume was made of lycra and fur. We headed to a very pregnant Jen Tolner's and Hakan's for a low key open house - of course we were the only ones dressed up and a wee bit tipsy. The Tolner and he hubby sure do put out a nice spread though. We had to try to eat politely because we were so hungry we nearly killed each other, jockeying for position near the gourmet cheeses. Gretta and Joe picked us up, dressed as a sexy vampire couple, and we headed to Jimmy's for a crazy, over the top party with scary robots of Leatherface and Freddy Kruegar. We didn't stay long because of several of us recognising known felons at the party, plus a creepy old man vampire who kept trying to get me and gretta to check out the "back room" with him, and Jimmy's new girlfriend being kind of bitchy that Haley was there - Haley is Jimmy's briefly former girlfriend. They dropped us off at a bar near our house and Kevin picked us up. I was admittedly a little word-slurry at this point. We came home and I managed to, for the second time in three months, break one of my toes- damned suitcase I left out from my California trip! But a good time was had by all. Props to Kevin for being a great husband. He is now in Chicago again. This week, they are going to offer him a job that will require him moving there. Sigh. I am not moving - that is already decided for two major reasons - one is my job and the other is our house which we cannot currently sell. So, either he will successfully convince them that he can do this job from here, he will be traveling very frequently to do the job partly from there and partly from here, he will live there during the week and be home only on weekends (yuck!), or he will tell them to shove it, take a local position that he will hate here, and start looking for something else in Pittsburgh. Only one of these options is truly preferable (convincing them he can do it primarily from Pittsburgh.) So, we're kind of in a nervous state currently. Pray for us if you do that sort of thing. |
